Every culture has a worldview which is used to explain many of the mysteries of life, death, and the nature of the universe. This worldview influences how members of a culture perceive the world around them, and also how they respond or react back to it. There are many different factors which affect one's worldview. Below are some of the factors affecting the worldview of people from Pakistan.
Multi-Active ViewAccording to Richard Lewis's three types of worldviews, Pakistan would be considered to have a Multi-active view.
Tensions with the WestRelations with other countries in Europe and North America is often strained due to the different culture and especially the different religion.
Conflicts with IndiaSince the formation of Pakistan relations with India have always been tense, particularly over border disputes and water rights.

TerrorismTerrorism has become a part of life for people in Pakistan. The influence of groups like the Taliban on people throughout the nation are extensive. Even the rural areas are affected by these groups, particularly when they go there to gather new recruits to their cause (Constable, 2011). The following video clip describes some of the history of the Taliban in Pakistan and the issues they are having with them.
"Many Pakistanis today abhor the punitive extremism of the Taliban, yet they deeply resent the West and feel stridently defensive about Islam." (Constable, 2011, p. xv) Terrorism is seen by violent attacks performed by Pakistanis in other nations, and also within Pakistan, particularly against minority groups. The following video presents a particular incident from this past year where a group of Christians celebrating Easter were the target of a suicide bomber. It goes on to discuss why minority groups are being targeted, what is being done about it, and what needs to be done. |
